Several companies doing demos at the 2012 Tizen Developer Conference are using Samsung provided developer smartphones. Specs are still a bit sketchy but from from what I have been told, they are dual-cores, 1.2GHz, and ARM-based. Check out the photos I took from the Samsung’s booth:

Update: Samsung’s Executive Vice President, J-D Choi revealed some details with regards to the specs of the device:

  • Dual-core
  • 4.65″ Super AMOLED screen
  • Cortex A9 1.2GHz processor
  • 1GB RAM
  • 16GB hard drive
  • 8MP back camera
  • 2MP front camera
  • micro USB
  • WiFi
  • GPS
  • running Tizen 1.0
  • Audio/Video Decoder (MP3, AAC, AAC+, Mpeg4, .h263, .h264)


Ok folks, in a few days, the first Tizen Developer Conference will kick off at San Francisco. I’ve been in several Maemo and MeeGo developer conferences and although each one has its unique flavor, they are always informative and fun.

The last MeeGo conference was held in the same venue, the Hyatt Regency – San Francisco. While I would expect that not much has changed in the hotel, I’m sure Amy Leeland, Intel’s Open Source Events Manager, must have concocted something unique for this Tizen Developer Conference.

I’ve decided to create a guide to help those who are attending the event for the first time.
